While The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug has gone to great pains to keep its titular beastie under wraps, Air New Zealand has gone and revealed a massive image of the dragon on the side of one of its planes! In a promotional tie-up between the studio and the airline, Smaug will adorn the side of a Boeing 777-300ER, and mighty impressive he looks too. You can take a proper look at the reveal in the promotional video below, and revel in the majesty of a big old dragon! Take a look, below… While this sort of thing is usually an exercise in corporate cynicism, there’s something rather marvellous about seeing a massive dragon take to the skies, even if he does need the assistance of a couple of jet engines! Directed by Peter Jackson and co-starring Martin Freeman, Ian McKellen and Richard Armitage, The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug will open in the UK on 13 December 2013.
