DREDD Screenwriter Alex Garland to Make Directorial Debut with Robot Thriller EX MACHINA

Alex Garland is excited to make his directorial debut with an indie robot thriller. According to THR, Garland, along with producers Scott Rudin (The Social Network) and Eli Bush (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) will direct Ex Machina for DNA Films. Garland also wrote 28 Days Later, Never Let Me go, and last years’ Dredd. Ex Machina tells the story of a billionare programmer who invented an intelligent female robot. This indie movie is budgeted at around $15 million and producers are planning production this summer or fall.
Garland’s other works are Danny Boyle’s The Beach and Sunshine, Logan’s Run and Halo.
