ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK Gets Reboot Treatment with Plans for a Trilogy, Liam Neeson May Star
Escape From New York, John Carpenter’s 1981 post-apocalyptic thriller is the latest property to be reconstructed. In the original, Snake Plissken, an eye-patch wearing bank robbing convict was plated by Kurt Russell. The President was played by Donald Pleasence. Joel Silvers, head of Silver Pictures and studio canal are teaming up to bring a new look to the franchise with plans of an origin story and eventual trilogy.
Silver is looking to do more then just rehash the original film. Productions are searching for a writer and already have a few participants. The producer of the movie will be Neil Mortiz and Breck Eisner is in line to direct the movie who has also produced “The Crazies”.
