The film Passengers, stars Keanu Reevs.  The story sets on a spacecraft that is transporting thousands of people to a far colony.  A crash happens in one if its sleep chambers which causes a passenger to awake 90 years before every other passenger.  The awoken passenger has to grow old and die alone so he decides to wake up a second passenger.  These two fall in love under weird circumstances.  Deadline reports that Brian Kirk, who has taken over episodes of Game of Thrones and Boardwalk Empire, has been chosen to make his feature directorial appearance on the project for Wayfare Entertainment.

Kirk was previously eyed to direct the upcoming Thor sequel before it was given to fellow Game of Thrones alum, Alan Taylor.  Passengers has a script by Prometheus co-writer Jon Spaihts, and with a new director ready to go, production will happen without a doubt.  Original sci-fi films are in demand and Passengers will definitely be a great addition.
