Michael Fassbender and Chiwetel Ejiofor star in first trailer for 12 Years A Slave: watch now
The first trailer has arrived for 12 Years A Slave, director Steve McQueen’s latest collaboration with Michael Fassbender, and rather wonderful it looks too. The new film, adapted from Solomon Northup’s autobiography of the same name, stars Chiwetel Ejiofor as an educated and free man tricked into slavery by a pair of kidnappers. Meanwhile, Fassbender plays brutal plantation owner Edwin Epps, who looks as though he could give Calvin Candie a run for his money in the cruelty stakes. Take a look at the new trailer, below… What with a pair of powerhouse central performances and a supporting cast containing the likes of Benedict Cumberbatch, Brad Pitt and Paul Giamatti, it’s no surprise to hear this one already being tipped for Oscar recognition. Directed by McQueen and co-starring Sarah Paulson, Paul Dano and Scoot McNairy, 12 Years A Slave opens in the UK on 24 January 2014.
