Robert Redford may he starring in a Marvel movie.  Some sources say that Redford talks about joining the cast of Captain America: The Winter Soldier and a “senior leadership role in S.H.I.E.L.D.”  This is a big deal for Marvel, as Redford has downgraded himself to acting only in small indie films and his own directorial projects for the past few years, with his last starring role in a “Hollywood” film directed by Tony Scott’s Spy Game.  Because Kevin Feige recently pronounced The Winter Soldier as a “political thriller”, Redford should feel comfortable being apart of the S.H.I.E.L.D. crew.

Production on The Winter Soldier is expected to quickly move along, with Chris Evans returning, Anthony Mackie as Falcon, Frank Grillo (The Grey) as Crossbones, and Emily VanCamp (Revenge) as the female lead.  Also, brothers Joe and Anthony Russo will direct, and Captain America: The Winter Soldier opens in 3D on April 4, 2014.
