Columbia Pictures must be very content with Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg‘s directive launching, This Is the End because they were offered another directory gig.  Rogen and Goldberg will take over the next comedy The Interview, with James Franco as the lead role.  This film focuses on a talk show host and his producer “who find themselves in way over their heads when they get involved in a plot to assassinate the prime minister of North Korea.”  Franco will probably play the talk show host role while Rogen is the main producer.

Rogen and Goldberg are excited to direct and produce the film The Interview based on a story by the duo and Dan Sterling (The Daily Show).  They also wrote and directed the comedy This Is the End, where Rogen stars as himself.  The cast of This Is the End includes James Franco, Jonah HillDanny McBrideCraig Robinson, and Jay Baruchel.  This Is the End opens this summer and it proves that Columbia Pictures are happy with their work since they already have another film to work on.  Rogen and Franco work well together, hence, the Pineapple Express, so they’re pretty much excited to work together again.

The Interview would be produced on a budget of approximately $30 million, and the only other film on Rogen’s agenda is Nicholas Stoller‘s (Forgetting Sarah Marshall) comedy Townies, in which he’ll play the role of the star opposite Zac Efron and possibly Rose Byrne.
