Sony is wasting no time prepping future adventures for Spider-Man – despite the fact that The Amazing Spider-Man 2 isn’t even out yet, the studio has just hired writers for a third Spidey film. That should come as no surprise considering both Amazing Spider-Man 3 and 4 already have release dates, but given that Spider-Man 3 isn’t due until 2016, it’s impressive that Sony is getting to work going so early. So who are the lucky writers? Well, Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Jeff Pinker, aka the three busiest men currently busting blocks in Hollywood. The trio also wrote Amazing Spider-Man 2, and their hiring on number three is encouraging – Sony is clearly happy with whatever webs they’ve been spinning. Though part three plot details are non-existent this early, Mary-Jane could be making her ‘Andrew Garfield era’ debut. Spidey’s flame-haired love interest was originally set to appear in part two (played by Shailene Woodley), only to get bumped. “I think MJ will be in future films, yes, probably,” director Marc Webb told us back in July. As for Woodley returning, the director added: “We haven’t crossed that bridge yet… We haven’t figured out exactly how to do the third movie yet. We’ll see.” The Amazing Spider-Man 2 opens in the UK on 18 April 2014, with Spider-Man 3 and 4 following on 27 May 2016 and 4 May 2018 respectively.
